We have a guest presenter each week who provides information from their areas of expertise.   \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nGareth Jones\, property and commercial lawyer\, will give a summary of how the Australaian Consumer Law affects small businesses. It is always good to be reminded of your obligations (and your rights). Gareth will also take you through some examples of advertising and selling conduct which might breach the Australian Consumer Law. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSmall Businesses and the Competition and Consumer Act – Gareth Jones\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Presenter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGareth Jones – Septimus Jones & Lee\n\n\n\nGareth has developed a broad experience acting as a property and commercial lawyer for over 20 years. He has acted for listed property developers\, private developers and thousands of private clients each with their own objectives and needs. Purchases\, sales\, subdivisions\, leases\, easements\, covenants\, adverse possession\, compulsory acquisition. Legal advice needs to be effective for you\, but most of all\, you need to be able to sleep better at night. \n\n\n\nGareth is a partner at Septimus Jones & Lee\, a firm which has been operating for over 85 years. The firm decided to move out of the city where it had been operating since 1935 to embrace the new opportunities made possible by remote working. Septimus Jones & Lee moved to Kew where we are more accessible to our clients and able to make the most of the efficiencies to be gained by hybrid working in the office and from home. \n\n\n\nGareth is married and has four sons so his hobbies mostly revolve around driving to and watching sport! \n\n\n\nToday\, Gareth will introduce himself more fully as a new member of Business Referrers\, and share a tip which all businesses and individuals should follow to avoid losing money.

Conversations around the dinner table were always about bricks and mortar. From a small child\, Kym was always building homes out of Legos and going to inspections with her Dad and loved inspecting display homes. Kym was very fortunate to be trained by her Father while completing a Real Estate Traineeship and then completing further study to become a fully licensed Estate Agent. Kym’s Father who is still working in the industry today in WA continues to be an influential person in her career. Many family members have followed a career in the Real Estate industry with some joining Kym’s business giving it a solid foundation that her clients really appreciate and warm to. \n\n\n\nKym has renovated her homes in the past and is now also studying Interior Design. \n\n\n\nKym is a very driven professional who is always stretching herself not only for personal satisfaction but for the benefit of the advice she can offer her clients. She gains great satisfaction out of seeing her clients achieve their property dreams and being an integral part of their property journey. \n\n\n\nKym has a wonderful 20 year old daughter and a beautiful little Moodle dog – Missy. Kym might be the boss at work but Missy is clearly the boss at home!

We have a guest presenter each week who provides information from their areas of expertise.   \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWinston Churchill famously said “If you are going through hell\, keep going”. That quote was my motivation through may years of family tragedy (leaving me to raise my son alone since he was 4)\, and all the collateral damage that came with it. Most significantly I was diagnosed with a pre-cancer condition\, but I ignored it for 2 years amidst all the litigation\, solo parenting etc. That all changed when I pondered what would happen to my son if it became cancer. In an instant\, ” I took ownership of my health ” (for Dylan’s sake) and I turned it around 180 degrees – including losing 50kgs and improving all my medical markers. “When I found my WHY\, my HOW found me”. \n\n\n\nDuring Covid I started a men’s health charity to help as many men as possible find their WHY\, as it’s THE power that enables us to take ownership of our health. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Presenter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRichard Paterson
